Marble used in buildings and private residences as well. However many ignores, that the marble used for walls and floors - soft enough with original structure which is very easy may be damaged or stained.
One serious question - how properly to care for marble?
First, remember, that it is impossible to use acid in any kinds for shining marble or stains removing. It is incorrect to clean a stone by vinegar, cologne, a lemon juice (lemon acid) or Coca-Cola as advise some, and also using cleaners for ceramics or porcelain tiles. Acid very badly react to marble, destroying it. If you have already cleaned a marble floor in a similar way, you should know what it is possible to restore it, but it will cost much more than just proper cleaning.
Some simple advises for preserving marble in a good condition:
First, put a door mat behind a door, for sand which
may be carried into house, and scratch a marble.
Second, use house footwear with a soft sole (like moccasins)
and carry out daily cleaning. As soon as you notice a stain on a marble
- immediately pick it up, otherwise the dirt will be absorbed into marble
pores. Damp marble in a bathroom should be wiped after bathing - otherwise
water can leave a spots on surface. On marble tables better don’t
put hot items, glasses with wine without an underlay.
Third, proper cleaning should be done by water and
a soft fabric, stains or grease by soap water or special cleaners for
marble. Do not use soap on the oil basis - otherwise marble may become
